Notes:
The British Democrats beat the Lib Dems and Greens. In the case of the former we had not previously achieved this in 2014 and 2015.
The Independent candidate was a former Labour councillor of twelve years who fought a professional multiple leaflet campaign. He stood for election in protest, as the Labour candidate was selected on an all women shortlist.
There are several council estates in the ward, and many parts are neglected with potholes a common sight. Despite this yet again Labour were returned with a large majority.
To portray this result as anything other than an abysmal failure is to insult the intelligence of the reader.
( Party Official ) Yes , THIS RESULT WAS A FAILURE. However , this is only our second poor result. We nearly always beat the Greens and Liberals and most of our Election Results have been very good !
( Party Official ) Talking about Elections , People need to appreciate that our Party , all volunteers , are trying to help this Country and it’s PEOPLE. The team in WYKE worked hard to get our message of HOPE AND DECENCY across and not needing the hassle , are to be COMMENDED FOR A VALIANT EFFORT.
It is a regrettable fact that UKIP has hoovered up most nationalist supporters. For the most part UKIP avoided being branded as a racist party, which overtly anti-immigration parties suffer from. We are genuine conservationists, whilst promoters of multi culturalism and mass immigration are the real racists and genocidists against the indigenous population.
Vindication if it was needed that the Party was correct in giving these Elections” a wide berth” . Jim is a superb candidate but was always going to get well and truly beaten. The electorate in the area have switched to UKIP the false flag , immigrant welcoming ex Tory’s and as painful as it is for us to swallow our Patriotic vote has been given away .Those not voting UKIP, the majority ,have swung back to Liebour. Mad old world aint it !!!
UKIP of old did not say very much about immigration. It was all about the pound sterling… apart from the European elections, they usually finished below the BNP in local elections. Now it would appear they have a monopoly on the issue of immigration. And all after doing no work in bringing that issue to the forefront of politics in the first place !
( Party Official ) Yes ,JJM , It is so unjust. UKIP are now getting droves of working class votes to go with the disaffected Conservative types , mostly due to IMMIGRATION. As you say , they do not deserve this and I think they are running a false ticket. On the bright side , they are PROVING there is a massive potential FOR A DECENT , CLASSLESS , PATRIOTIC NATIONALIST PARTY. THAT IS US , THE REAL DEAL , GENUINE BRITISH DEMOCRATIC PARTY.
Not a bad result considering the circumstances, we now need to consider where we go from here.
The party has in my opinion neglected essentials, fair enough we don’t put resorces into elections, however, there are many other things we can do. Improve the party structure, is our literature making the impact it should, if not change it. It’s all very well leaflets being liked by us, but is it bringing in members, if not then let’s change it. We can not drift along year after year, we need to change or pack up.
I’m sure that candidate Jim Lewthwaite knew that he had goodwill from party members and supporters from all over the country. That, plus getting the party name better known, made participation in the Wyke election worthwhile. Some of us travelled from the Midlands to Bradford and spent four full days helping to leaflet the large 7,500 home ward.
( Party Official ) Several Political Party ‘ , if you think about it , have suddenly took off in Britain , over the last few years. They have gone from a few votes in Council Wards and indeed Constituencies , to MILLIONS OF VOTES. One in Scotland has become the more or less Government. With our GOOD NAME and RESPECTED REPUTATION , SUCCESS WILL SOON BE OURS. It does happen , but we need to WORK FOR IT AND WE ARE !
The SNP has had EIGHT decades to become the government and the Labour Party helped them a lot leaning towards the ‘Right’ in its economic and some social policies to capture votes in the South. UKIP only receive mostly good publicity from the media because they only have one distinctive policy ie EU withdrawal and they stay within PC limits on the migration question. If they didn’t the press would slaughter them as other parties have found-out to their cost.
One can argue a newish kid on the block ,which the BDP is might struggle a bit, and did.
The fact they beat the Marxist lib dems, and greens gives me no comfort whatsoever. The lermming folk voted the way they were conditioned to. That my friends is a simple fact a party such as the BDP needs to realise is its greatest foe. The media and its mouth pieces in the political spectrum.
What to do . Well that’s the rub . A counterfeit electoral system that cannot be beaten is in my view a waste of members hard earned funds. We obviously need something else.
40 years since JT formed the BNP and where are we, nowhere.
Not disregarding the valiant effort mas described by johnshaw
