- Government Figures Reveal 30,000 social housing lettings went to migrants in 2015.
- Migration Watch – said the crisis and its costs would continue to grow unless a ‘sustainable’ level of migration is achieved.
- The homes could be constructed under plans set to be unveiled in a government white paper.
- The Homes can take as little as a day to construct off-site and just 48 hours to install on-site
The Government is planning a new wave of prefabricated homes in a drive to solve Britain’s housing crisis. The present building plans have been found to be inadequate after government figures revealed that 30,000 social housing lettings had been allocated to migrants in 2015.
Pressure group Migration Watch – chaired by Lord Green of Deddington, said the crisis and its costs would continue to grow unless a ‘sustainable’ level of migration is achieved.
A statement on the Migration Watch website said: ‘There is a long standing controversy over the granting of social housing to immigrants. This has not been helped by local authorities’ reluctance to publish the relevant information.
‘Some immigrant groups have very low use of social housing whereas others are more likely to be in social housing than the UK born. There is absolutely nothing in the rules that state that immigrants should get preferential treatment.
‘However, priority for social housing is largely determined by need and so some ‘high need’ immigrant families will gain access to housing over longer standing local residents deemed to be of lower need. This can be contentious.’
It added: ‘In the future, any housing strategy must address both supply and demand. Immigration is a major part of housing demand.
‘Unless net migration is reduced to a manageable and sustainable level a large house building programme will have to continue indefinitely, with all the costs and loss of amenities involved.’
More than 100,000 pre-packed ‘modular’ homes could be constructed as the Government looks at ways to meet its target to provide one million new homes by 2020, according to reports.
A Government white paper due out next month will include measures to encourage banks to lend to firms which construct the homes off-site before delivering them to their final destination.
Politicians including former Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith have warned that immigration is ‘pricing young people out of the housing market’ in Britain.
It is believed that there are now 2.1million EU workers in the UK. Some 800,000 citizens arrived last year, many more than previously thought.
The pre-made homes can be built off-site in as little as a day and take just 48 hours to install on-site.
The initiative recalls the reconstruction drive which followed the Second World War as ready-made homes – dubbed ‘prefabs’ – sprung up across the country as the government sought to house families bombed out of their homes by the Germans.
While the prefab nickname of the 1940s homes was often a byword for poor quality, improvements in technology mean that such concerns are no longer an issue and Ministers are understood to be considering a range of offsite construction methods made possible by modern materials and manufacturing techniques.
Housing and planning minister Gavin Barwell said: ‘Offsite construction could provide a huge opportunity to increase housing supply and we want to see more innovation like this emulated across the housebuilding sector.
British Democrats say the Government should concentrate on stopping the high levels of immigration/migration otherwise we will have a ‘housing crisis’ year on year.
We trust the prefabricated houses will not be just for British people while the immigrants/migrants are allocated £1m homes in London.
johnshaw ( Party Official ) Having read in our article that the much respected MIGRATION WATCH say that the HOUSING CRISIS and it’s COSTS would continue to grow ( get worse ) unless a sustainable level of Migration ( IMMIGRATION ) is achieved then I HOPE THIS ; Just as the great Donald Trump said ” that America should cease all Muslim Immigration into America until they figure out what is going on ” then I HOPE our Party adopts the POLICY that no Immigrant be allocated any Council or Housing Association Dwelling until Britain’s HOUSING CRISIS IS SOLVED , IF EVER.
johnshaw ( Party Official ) As our Party develops , New Policies on all subjects , if we are serious , could be VOTED through by post and then these could then be used for our MANIFESTO in conjunction with our all important POLICY DOCUMENT , which is our DECLARATION OF WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE BELIEVE.
If one cares to watch ‘Cant pay or we’ll take it away’ see countless immigrant families evicted from homes let by the private sector, for mostly withholding rents, which are benefits paid by our taxes ‘ housing benefit’
If children are part of the eviction then the local borough council must by( law) find these immigrants somewhere to live.
I believe all immigrants know this and therefore put themselves in such a position. I believe not paying one housing benefit is theft of taxes revenue, But are these miscreants prosecuted, it seems not. Also by not paying rent they have purposely made themselves homeless. Try getting on the housing list behaving like this if your white indigenous.
Its a tragedy or even criminal that councils behave like this. But in a land where deceit and lies rule. folk like us pointing these anomilies out get arrested.
Its strange how the bracketed (law) seems only to favour certain groups. Our laws belong to us, and should not be disciminatory another crime the elites need to be punished for.
The ”housing crisis” in reality is an overpopulation crisis… the populations that are increasing are generally those that are dependants and require social housing and housing benefis ect..mainly from the Third world.
The front page headline of yesterday’s Sun newspaper featured an African family who have been given a nice big house and have cost the taxpayer a fortune. However this is the RULE and not the exception, with third world immigrants. Often with properties considerably more expensive than the one featured in the Sun article
The cost of providing an infrastructure to accommodate them as well as benefits means that even if some of them do pay taxes, it will never get anywhere near the expense of having to provide houses and flats.
