European Solidarity

European Solidarity

EU ImmigrationThe British Democratic Party makes it clear in its policy statement that we should  withdraw from the EU – which is also my view.  Unlike all other British and English nationalist parties or movements, the BDP is not a narrow insular party. Early in our policy statement it states:

“We recognise and value the overlapping ancestral, cultural and historical ties of all the European peoples.”

Because of this statement  – as well as its opposition to immigration with no ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ – I am a firm founder member of the BDP, although as yet it does not support my view on Europe of a European Confederation of sovereign  states, as distinct from the EU’s Federal Union. However, as I have said on many occasions “a party of 100 per cent political agreement is a party of one”.

Bill Baillie, a friend of mine of long and valued standing,  produces a blog at

http://europeanoutlook.blogsport.co.uk

which is usually the source of an argument between him and me on some point or other. I can find little to disagree with – except for his support of the EU – in the theme of his opening subject in this month’s issue of his blog. – I must emphasise again that publication of  this extract does not necessarily  mean that it is part of  BDP policy.

“In total 641,000 immigrants came to Britain in 2014 and 323,000 people emigrated. We received 268,000 from the EU and 290,000 from outside the EU; mostly from India and Nigeria.

Dave Cameron has introduced a new Immigration Act to reduce the influx. But our border guards are inadequate and the police are not interested. If they come across illegal immigrants or bogus asylum seekers they simply ask them to report to the immigration department. A token number are deported each year but many of them find their way back.

The last Labour government tried to introduce identity cards but they were bitterly opposed. People who already carry all sorts of identification objected to a simple ID card. The result is that we have no idea who is in the country. The government has just started checking the passports of people going abroad but it would be more useful to know who is coming in.

So much propaganda surrounds immigration that it’s difficult to discuss the subject without being accused of racism. It was not until the arrival of the Poles that immigration became a subject for debate. Gutless newspapers like the Daily Mail never said a word about blacks and Asians pouring into the country for fear of the Race Relations Act, but they attacked the Poles because they are white and therefore fair game. Petty nationalist parties like Ukip and the BNP never showed a scrap of solidarity with our fellow Europeans. They joined in a shameful campaign for the sake of a few votes.

Ukip prefer English-speaking blacks and Asians but it's the blood of Europe that has made our civilization and it will be the people of Europe who reclaim our destiny.”

  1. John, thanks for the mention.
With a declining British birth rate we can either accept a reduced economy or rely on immigration. The question is what sort of immigrants do we want – Europeans or non-Europeans? If we ban EU immigrants we will have to take more from the Third World. The choice is our; Poles or Pakistanis, Irish or Indians?

    • Bill, we could of course encourage ethnic British women to have more children, by helping families with the state's  support! Put the family not the individual at the heart of our nation and help women to stay at home and have children.

      • Would that necessarily achieve that aim though? We are nowdays a very consumerist culture and people don't start families because they want to 'live for now' and have the latest 'must have' gadgets and cars ect. At any rate, a gentle decline in our own population figures (as long as it doesn't go too far) would help this country. Britain (especially England) is undeniably overcrowded and this doesn't help congestion on the roads ect.

  2. UKIP simply play PC games like preferring non-Europeans to Europeans because they think it’s the tactical way forward. Keep the BBC sort of happy. I doubt many of them believe it. That’s a key piece of the stratagem to get rid of Europeans from the system’s viewpoint. We are supposed to deny our own existence effectively and UKIP goes along with it. For the same seedy reasons UKIP focuses on European immigration. It’s got them a big protest vote but only a single MP and he’s flaky on immigration.

Preferring Europeans does not of course mean giving admission in unlimited numbers to people from poorer European countries. It’s not even in their interest since it means they will focus on getting out instead of improving their own homelands.

    • UKIP are clearly unprincipled and playing political games as you say. That they do this only helps the supporters of immigration to claim this isn't an important isssue and also to try and make out it is an issue only to do with economics when the social aspects of immigration are far more important. Yes, UKIP barely ever mentions the thorny issue of non-EU migration to Britain so that by itself should be a warning to those people who are not that 'clued-up' about politics and belive that UKIP is some sort of manna from heaven. It's time for these people to not be so naive about UKIP.

  3. ” Europe of a European Confederation of sovereign states, as distinct from the EU’s Federal Union. ”. For me this is a sensible way forward for us. It distances us from the UKIP/BNP stance and if we were to work towards this aim we could indeed have our “Cake and eat it “

    • Yes, a loose confederation of sovereign nation states is acceptable to me whilst a federation of the EU is not. The main thing wrong with the EU from a democratic viewpoint is that it seeks to take too much power from the member states with regard to the economy. The economy is nearly always the primary focus of general elections in Britain. How can we have proper general elections when control over such a 'bread and butter issue' has been largely 'farmed-out' to the EU?

      • I would also want powers over immigration returned to us. Basically, the EU does far too much at present and ought to be slimmed-down radically. A loose confederation of the sovereign nations of Europe should concern itself with providing a voice for Europe in the world and basically just deal with that and the defence of Europe. Everything else should be devolved to the nation states.

        • The nation states of Europe should be in the driving seat of this 'new Europe' and not a strong central authority. I believe Marine Le Pen supports General De Gaulle's concept of 'L'Europe des Patries' and that is the ideal we should work towards.

          • Infact, the ONLY reason we have PR for elections (those of us who live in England outside of London) now is because the EU FORCED the then Labour government to introduce PR for the EU elections in 1999 and said we MUST have a PR system for them (replacing the previous First Past The Post nonsense) as EVERY OTHER EU country already had it!

        • (Party Official ) Our Party's correct attitude and indeed POLICY on the European Union is stated clearly in our POLICY DOCUMENT. Some of these comments , by members of the public and others , are just Conservative ideas of getting a couple of our Sovereign Rights back ! Simon Fairbairn , Dorset County Organiser.

          • No, they are far more extensive than what the Consevative Party would wish to do. The Tory Party doesn't seek any fundamental reform of the EU though they are doing a good job of conning their members/supporters and the wider public that this is their wish. For instance, the Conservative Party doesn't wish to repatriate significant economic powers to this country eg they are avid supporters of the EU's so-called 'single market' – a 'single market' which mainly benefits Germany as

          • they have (by far) the strongest economy in Europe. We don't benefit as much as Germany does from that so-called 'single market' thanks to decades of Tory and Labour mismanagement of the British economy with EU policies preventing British governments from repairing the damage (even if they wished to do so and they don't) caused to our former industrial base that Tories and Labour wrecked.

The economy is the 'meat and drink' of democratic politics and having the EU having such a strong influence upon this issue

          • significantly reduces the point in having general elections and the accountabilty the British electorate should have over our politicians (which the Tory Party has made EVEN LESS with their FIVE YEAR fixed term parliaments).

The EU should have NO influence over such a vital issue which effects people's daily lives. The EU does far too much and has too much influence over the nation states of Europe and needs to be radically slimmed-down.

          • what I and others here are arguing for is a very loose confederation of the EU with the EU having virtually no powers over internal matters to the nation states ie its powers would be restricted to providing a voice for Europe on the world stage and the defence of Europe.

          • If Mr Cameron fails to get the other EU countries to agree to repatriate SUBSTANTIAL powers to this country and they only agree some pathetic, minor concessions I will vote No to staying within the EU.  Of course, Mr Cameron has no chance of doing this and he must know it but playing juvenile and electoral games with this issue has been the Tory way ever since THEY put us into the Common Market in 1973 WITHOUT a referendum PRIOR to our entry so we should know this by now!

          • ( Party Official ) Judging by the comments of none members and members alike , I must be the only person who believes in our POLICY DOCUMENT. With not one person commenting on my suggestion of us standing in one area for the Police Commisioner Elections , DESPITE my offer of £500 in instalments towards the COST , I am now Considering my position regarding the British Democratic Party.

          • There is pretty much only one  other way I could be persuaded to vote Yes to staying in the EU apart from seeing the other EU countries agreeing to return SUBSTANTIAL amounts of sovereign powers to Britain and that is if the EU forced this country to become a MODERN democracy by saying the British government must leglislate for a TRUELY DEMOCRATIC voting system ie like the Germans have: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electoral_system_of_Germany for our general elections and local elections.

          • EVERYONE else in Europe (apart from the French) uses PR for local and general elections and it is about time we did as the archaic fraud of First Past The Post is well past its sell-by date. Then we could vote for an anti-EU party in mass numbers for the House of Commons and THEY WOULD obtain decent numbers of seats! How EMBARRASING would it be if the EU imposed this on us as the Labour Party and Tory Parties are too selfish, self-seeking and blatantly undemocratic to give it to us by themselves!

    • Yes, we know that the ONLY true European party in British politics is this one. UKIP are not just anti-EU BUT ANTI-EUROPEAN as can be seen from their muddled, Tory globalist thinking on immigration which discriminates against fellow Europeans from coming here who (in small numbers) could be assimilated but opens the door wide open for Third Worlders. How typically Tory!

  4. In the 1850s when the UK had an empire and had a stronger economy than it does now the population was less than 30 million. We don’t need more people, in fact having less means a reduction in public sector non-jobs. It is myth we would see a reduced economy with a declining population. Economic growth is calculated on productivity per person not on numerical amount.

    • ( Party Official ) Well said Paul. This is why I have been urging that our Party come out and put a figure on what we believe the U.K. population should be. If we declared 58 million in all our literature , we would be unique amongst the Party's. Whats the Tory figure ? 90 MILLION ! Whats the Liberal and Labour figure 120 Million ? Thats where these peoples policies are sending us ! VOTE B.D.P. for 58 million , you know it makes sense !

  5. No Paul, Britain only had 30 millions at home in 1850 but the Imperial economy had access to almost unlimited labour throughout the Empire. By 1922 the population of the British Empire – the great single market of its day – numbered 458 millions.

  6. Bill, 30 million people can run a country easily the same as 64 million. I could sack 50% of local government office workers and nobody would notice any impact to the quality of service they get. In fact this has already been largely been done by the last government. In schools it is common to have a teacher and two teaching assistants in classes, when historically classes work be staffed by one person. Right across the UK it is common for two-three people to do the work of one person.

We import a worker from abroad, we often get their dependent wives/husband and children. Two children will cost £5,000-6,000 each to go to school that is £12,000 a year. This won’t include child tax credits and child benefit. If both parents work they would struggle to generate £12,000 a year in tax, unless they are GPs or highly paid professionals (which the majority of foreign workers aren’t) let alone make profit. Immigration from Asia, Middle East, Africa, and Eastern Europe is loss making for the UK. Only immigration from West/Central Europe and US etc are we breaking even.

Stopping mass immigration and having a reduced economy (debatable) wouldn’t mean poorer standards of living. We would have larger houses to live in, smaller school classroom populations, less waiting lists on the NHS, less traffic and pollution, less crime, more green space, less stress etc.

    • Britain could cope with a smaller population and it would have benefits for our quality of life. The road congestion is getting to surreal levels because of this country's booming population caused mainly by totally excessive immigration. People's quality of life is getting worse particularly in places like Essex where I live. Let's have a reducing population and not more motorways and dual carriageways! I believe the former Optimum Population Trust (now the group Population Mattters) said Britain's ideal population should be around 30 million!

  7. ( Party Official ) Whilst very interesting and allowing members and non members alike a chance to air their views , I urge people to read our superb POLICY DOCUMENT regarding this matter and indeed other issues !

  8. ( Party Official ) ” We have our own dream and our own task. We are with Europe , but not of it . We are interested and associated , but not obsorbed “. Sir Winston Churchill .

    • Even some Germans dislike the EU and want to get out of it! This party does for instance: http://www.rep.de In their party programe (die progamme) which can be found under the subtitle (die partei) they want to see Germany exit the Euro and the present EU and be a part of a 'Das Europa der Vaterlander' which translated from German means 'The Europe of the Fatherlands' ie a Europe based-upon nation states and which would have the nation states of Europe in the driving seat – obviously a very different concept to the present EU. This is Marine Le Pen's vision too and her line on the subject is very similar to General De Gaulle's 'Europe des Partries' – the Europe of Nations.
